"99% of US businesses employ 50% of the employees and generate 35% of the revenue."
This line was intended to showcase why small businesses are so vital to the US economy.
However, to me it highlighted the importance of large-caps. A different way of saying the same thing:
"1% of US businesses employ 50% of the employees and generate 65% of the revenue."
That said, I am still a vociferous advocate of lower-middle market businesses.
• All big businesses started small.
• All big businesses rely on small businesses in their value chain.
• Innovation happens disproportionately in new/small businesses.
• Small businesses decentralize (democratize) the economy.
