An independent sponsor was able to move a seller from "NO" to "Yes!" on an 8-digit deal by funding a race car purchase and country club membership.

"His wife didn't want to spend money on extravagant items from their one-time exit proceeds. Increasing the valuation by $100k wouldn't have helped. But it made all the emotional difference when we said we could buy the race car and country club on his behalf, which cost less than $100k."

While cash has the highest economic utility, tangible assets can sometimes carry more weight. A similar example that comes to mind is when referral fees are paid as a Tropical All-Inclusive Getaway instead of a $10k cash disbursement.
