Diligence vs. Fundraising

There is an inevitable conflict of interest between (1) diligencing & negotiating a deal and (2) raising capital for it.

On one hand, you’re supposed to be a devil’s advocate about what you learn and pretend that you can’t offer the seller another dollar before walking away. On the other hand, you have to pitch the company to capital providers as the best deal in history.

The solution: hire great advisors.
