If the most recent financial results of a target show all-time highs, it could be attributed to temporary factors or market conditions that may not be sustainable in the long term. Financial performance tends to regress to the mean over time. So, beware when margins are elevated; if EBITDA normalizes to historical averages, a valuation based on peak performance could overestimate the company's true value.
